For some, watching a SUNSET can be a passion, almost an obsession. For me, one of the best places to watch the setting sun was in Sarasota Florida, at The Ritz-Carlton Beach Club, at the historic Tiki Hut Bar on Lido Beach.
As you watch the video above, listen in the background to the drum beat as the sun sets over the Gulf of Mexico. You might even see the green flash.
What is it about sunsets that touches us so deeply? We catch a glimpse of those warm colors and want to capture that glorious moment for all eternity. Here are some tips to help you take great sunset photos with your digital camera.
Preparation
Find the right location for your sunset shot. The best locations are places like the beach or the edge of a cliff. These types of settings provide a clear view of the sun for your photograph. You should be on location and ready to go at least thirty minutes before sunset.
Taking the Photos
As the sun begins to approach the horizon, you will start to see some beautiful effects. Take a shot every minute or so in order to catch the way the light changes as the sun drops lower in the sky. You should use a tripod to hold your camera steady if you have one.
